Is there a program or something? Because I recovered some deleted pictures and zip folders with an un-delete program and when I try to open the picture in windows picture and fax viewer it says”No Preview Availible”. And when I try to open a zip folder I recovered it says: “The compressed (zipped) folder is invalid or corrupt”. But the files still have data inside them in the properties menu it says that the file(s) is 56.1 KB, so it should be able to open. Is there a program that can access the files even though they supposedly have “missing” data? By the way I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the updates and stuff. PLEASE try and answer, thanks

I am one of the many who had the bitter experience with the windows 7 (64bit 7600 build). I was very happy with the older RHEL. My son tried the third rated Gates OS in my personal system and screwed all the data. Is there any way to recover them?

VirtualLab Data Recovery 5.5.17
How can I restore my Windows Vista System after a failed SP2 upgrade?
The system stopped @ 48% complete and did not resume after 8 hrs. It said not to power down the computer, but obviously i had no choice once the upgrade failed. This destroyed the config.sys file and the instructions were to run a repair/restore with the system disk. This did not work [of course] and I cannot get to another copy of the config.sys file with native DOS [Vista does not give this option]. I need to copy and old config.sys [pre-sp2 upgrade] to where the system is looking for it now [the system disk restore to an earlier date did not work either] and I’m afraid I do not have a ‘ghost image’ or backup copy of system files outside of the ones on the hard drive. Any thoughts/suggestions?

after fixing a friends laptop. I noticed a hp tower buried in the corner. I ask whats up with it.. she says it crashed 2 years ago and they wanted to throw it out but, it has family pictures that were priceless her husband has attempted to recover as well as others.. hp was no support best buy was no help…
I said dose it start and they told me yes now it just says hdd not recognized all assume hhd fail at this point.
so I boot up to bios to look around and see that the bios sees hdd 250gb sata west dig… so i dug lil’ deeper and saw hdd is disabled? as well as some other needed hardware… so I reconfig bios and machine boots up win xp med pro.. now says on board vga needs update and goes to hp display(onboard video also disabled in bios) and machine freeze at that point cannot recover data.. so I access hdd via live cd”:s and other methods data is all intact os is as well… I also notice the partitions that was set up when he purchased this machine new( $2500.00 for pkg win med center pro) 2 years before it crashed) they had recovery part. @ 8gb and primary @ 15gb with os and other media programs preinstalled … the rest of this 250gb unallocated… I told him his hdd did not crash but it was full and created other problems with may have appeared as hdd failure and in the process did more damage trying to recover his data from crashed hdd he had always assumed and was told by the pros it would take years to fill 250gb
they never told him his os was only 20gb he has 230gb of useless space.. I told him best buys was responsible and at the time of apparent crash his machine was still under warranty but now after sitting in the corner for 2 1/5 years with priceless data
that he was probably stuck, but and more importantly his files are still on the hdd and can be recovered! I put old hdd installed win xp machine works great! my ??? at this point is ” what is the best way for free to recover this data shops want $$$$ to do this simple task, which best buy should pay for? and should I talk to them and see if they stand by their warranty and their negligence!

I lost power to my house and my comp crashed. So i tried to login after power restoration and experienced alot of blue screens of death until the computer just froze at the windows logo. I tried to use the repair option from the win xp cd but it was progressing as if i was installing windows for the first time.
Other errors i get:
-used repair option from win xp, it never completes and freezes…always cant install the dpvoice.dll file
-can not access safe mode at all, freezes at agp40.dll
-last known config, freezes at windows logo
-sometimes i can login, but crash, or OS is not recognized
Well luckily i have two hard drives and was able to load windows xp on the second one but when i try to view the messed up drive it asks me if i want to format. That drive was partitioned into 2 partitions. I can view and read the second partition with no problem. How can i recover this data? Is there a free tool or do i have to dish out money? Is there a chance to return the drive to normal?
