shred or destroy previous data. I’m selling the computer and want the hard drive erased I was told to reformat but have found that is not enough. I’ve already reformatted the hard drive, I don’t want to destroy or replace the hard drive, can I go back and destroy data so that if someone tries to recover data from it they wouldn’t be able to?

Need help pals. My laptop went down when I was transferring data from laptop to hard disk. Later, I could not find none of the files in the folder which I was transferring. Now having partition magic 8.0 with me, being novice, not sure what is the right procedure to do. Please can any one help me in this regard ?

Now, it seems crashed. I am able to access the drives, but it is not showing any contents inside. But, the disk size shows as used. Whatever information I had, the size is still in use, & the remaining it shows as free space. How do I recover the lost data?

I was using wordpad to type something up, just something casual, but nonetheless it took me some time to do it. When I left the computer for a while, it logged me off and when I logged back on, everything was gone. I hadn’t saved it previously so it was just an “document” titled file. Is there anything I can do or any software I can use to get it back?

My laptop crashed and I have recovered data by transferring it to CD. I had Windows XP as my operating system in my laptop, however, I am unable to read the file contents in my new PC with Windows Vista as my operating system. Is there a way to do so I can read my old files with Windows Vista?

My Vista install cannot boot. I’m attempting to recover data from a RAID 0 array. I can boot other OS’s off of USB keys, and I have done so easily. I need an OS, presumably a Linux environment with a GUI, that can read the array. It is an Nvidia “fakeraid”, that was made in the BIOS of my 750i chipset motherboard.
So, if anyone has such a distro that can recognize RAID0 arrays that has a GUI, I’d greatly appreciate the help!!!

My laptop turns on but cannot boot (Windows XP), I inserted Ubuntu CD and booted Ubuntu using the trial method. I tried to look for the media file but it wasn’t there! Does that mean everything from my hard drive has been erased? Would I have better luck using a hard drive adapter to extract files?
The windows drive is labeled as Media drive, it should have been under places>computer

I lost my password for my encrypted external hard drive that I did using trucrypt and I’m afraid I lost my data. Is there any way I can possibly recover them? I use the one were it has a dummy encryption which I can still access but the one where all my data is in I can’t seem to remember the password because I changed it and didn’t backup my password. Please HELP…
Blues I tried and tried and need serious help please help. I know I changed the password and I remember I wasn’t going to use my typical one so I chose a really random one an now I can’t remember. HELP!!!
