How can i recover deleted data myself, without using any specialist software?
Reason i want to know, is that i haven’t actually lost any data myself, but i’m trying to build up my knowledge of pc support. So i want to learn the long and hard way of doing this.

I am trying to recover some data that was erased off a pc using the program Sure Delete. So far I have run a number of various file recovery software, they have recovered the file name, but not the file itself (ie: a picture that was deleted will recover the file name, but if you click on it, there is no picture. Also, freeware would be greatly appreciated if it is available to do this. Thanks.

This is a 120 GB Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 hard drive from a desktop computer.
The files I did not save are photos and songs. They are on the hard drive, but were never backed up to a disc.

My Hp laptop started giving troubles and and I wanted to repair the MS XP OS and this caused a condition of NO Booting despite several efforts. The I decided to connect the hp HDD through USB Drive to my new Dell laptop. Iam seeing the folders but they are protected by my old Hp OS and not allowing me to copy or transfer files. Not giving oppertunity to give the old HP password also since (laptop)system changed. Whats the way out?
I dont want to involve a Technician since I have Credit card and other secure data.
If you accidentally deleted a partition in your hard drive and are desperate to get your data and the partition back relax! this video is for you. In this screen cast I show you how to easily reco…
An unmountable or inconsistent state in Sun Solaris Sparc operating system primarily occurs due to file system damage, operating system malfunctioning, Kernel damage (completely or partially), virus infection, and more. Data stored on your hard drive becomes inaccessible after you your system comes into an unmountable state. To overcome such situations, an easy way is to restore data from a complete backup. But if in case, you have not maintained any backup or backup file is unable to restore the required data, then you will need to use advanced Sun Solaris Data Recovery Software to recover your lost data.
Consider a practical scenario, where you removed a Solaris 10 Kernel patch118833-36for SPARC using “svccfg delete” command when the “milestone” parameter is set to null. However, when you attempt to restart your system, it does not boot making all the hard drive inaccessible. Furthermore, when you attempt to reboot your system (Single User Mode), you encounter below error message:
“booting with command: bootBoot device: rootdisk File and args:not found: get_cpu_pagesizesdo_relocations: /platform/sun4v/kernel/cpu/sparcv9/SUNW,UltraSPARC-T1 do_relocate failedkrtld: error during initial load/link phasepanic – boot: exitto64 returned from client programProgram terminated{0} ok”
The system becomes unusable after the above error message appears.
Cause:
The above issue primarily occurs when both the below conditions are true:
A patch is being deleted using the “svccfg delete” command.
The “milestone” parameter is not assigned “all” value.
Resolution:
To resolve the above issue, you will need to reinstall Sun Solaris Sparc operating system. Data stored in the hard drive partition gets completely erased after you perform a clean reinstall. For complete recovery of lost data in such situations, you will need to use effective Sun Solaris Sparc Data Recovery Software. Such recovery applications use high end scanning procedures to recover lost data to recover data from formatted hard drive. These Sun Solaris Sparc Data Recovery applications perform recovery after fsck command fails to repair the system data structures.
Stellar Phoenix (Solaris – Sparc) software is a efficient Sun Solaris Data Recovery application that recovers all lost, missing, and deleted data from Solaris operating system on Sparc platform. This non destructive recovery application is compatible with UFS file systems. It gets installed on Windows (2003, XP, 2000, NT, ME, 98, and 95) and the affected UNIX hard drive should be connected as slave.
In the present time, even for the inexperienced computer user, restoring and retrieving data has become very easy because of the availability of various tools and techniques to recover data. But before knowing the recovery tools and techniques, it is suggested to know the situations and the error messages that can make your data inaccessible and lost. Various situations of data loss and data inaccessibility are as follows:
A hard drive partition containing critical information has damaged because of system malfunction.
Hard drive partition has got damaged due to harmful virus.
Operating system could not access disk partition.
Hard drive is logically damaged.
File system has got corrupted.
You have unexpectedly formatted hard drive.
Data from disk partition is not readable.
Data deleted from Windows recycle bin.
Damaged or corrupted partition table.
“The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.”
“NTFS partition not accessible”
In any of the above situations, you cannot access your hard drive partitions and in turn data from them. Sometimes, even you cannot see the partitions. It is because of corrupted, missing, formatted or deleted partitions. But, you need not to worry as there are number of ways by using which you can restore data easily and safely. The three simple ways that will help you to restore data from your hard drive are as follows:
1. Using another Computer
If you have another computer with you, it becomes very easier to gain access to most of the data. You just need to connect the damaged hard drive to another computer and retrieve the deleted data through a USB (Universal Serial Bus). But make sure that the operating system is able to copy the data properly.
2. Using Windows Explorer:
Another way to recover lost data is the use of Windows Explorer. By using the Windows explorer you can transfer the hard drive containing the lost data to the main hard drive whose operating system is working. However, you can use this method successfully and efficiently only if the partition data is left unaffected.
3. Using data recovery tools
There are several data recovery tools available for restoring lost and inaccessible data. Using generic and result oriented tools, you can retrieve all your lost and inaccessible data. These tools effectively recover lost data by using high level of scanning algorithms, specially designed to resolve the corruption issues. These tools have a user friendly interface that guides you through the entire process making it rather convenient for you to trace the lost data on the hard drive.
Among all the three ways, data recovery tools are the most reliable and efficient means of recovering lost data from the damaged, corrupted and inaccessible partitions. Data recovery software can retrieve the deleted, lost and missing files and provide you with recovered contents which seemed lost.

Any person using the binary basket (the computer system) for any sort of work definitely deals with the issue of data loss at some or the other point. This can happen due to some reasons that even the user cannot avoid because bugs are a by-product of using the binary bag and till today computer applications are not free from corruption. In all these scenarios, the user becomes the victim and he is the one who loses the most.
Previously, the only way to deal with data damage disaster was to utter some words and then start the reconstruction of data from scratch again. Sounds eccentric? It surely is! Starting over again from the beginning and redoing the effort every time the data is lost can surely make any user berserk. Fortunately, todayâs generation is blessed with other ways of dealing with data loss problems. The best one is the use of data recovery software tools. Whether there is an accidental deletion of a file or complete crash of the hard disk or if the computer catches a data-corrupting virus; data recovery is the solution on which the users can bank upon with closed eyes. But again, closing the eyes completely at the time of choosing a data recovery software product will again drop the user into another trouble pit. So, choosing the right software is also imperative.
Unfortunately, the initial reasons of data corruption cannot be reversed or avoided. It is almost impossible to prevent the entry of such problems. No matter how vigilantly a user treads, some virus can still sneak in at some or the other point, hard disks will wear out and even crash often. To cry over the spilt milk will solve no problem, but to act smarty by using a data recovery tool will save the day for the data loss victims. Prevention is surely a good way but while talking of computers, prevention is not always the only way to handle data loss scenarios. The computer forensics team will tell that whole computer field is built on one concept and that is â âNothing is fully erased from computerâs memory. Every data item leaves a thumbprint or some type of trace or remnant on the system.â Therefore data recovery software tools can help to bargain data retrieval with data loss in any corruption scenario.
