How to install corrupted SATA HD as a slave?

Hello,

My computer is DELL XPS 600 with Windows XP professional OS. I had a hard drive (SATA Maxtor 250 GB) failure and bought a new Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA Internal Hard Drive -320GB. I install OS from recovery disk, and it works fine. I was told I can recover data from corrupted HD to new one, by installing corrupted as a slave. I know that there is no slave or master for SATA HDs. But I cannot get my original corrupted HD recognized. When I go to BIOS it is just not there. Besides, when I turn on computer- OS is not loading-the screen goes black. When I remove corrupted HD –Windows is working just fine. Any help greatly appreciated!!

Now hard dive recognized in boot menu, but still can not run OS-the screen goes black. Good HD connected to 0 SATA port, The corrupted to 1SATA port. If I switch them, computer start booting from corrupted one (does not load Windows).Anything else I can try?

i want to recover data from an external notebook hard disk. how to make it become slave for a desktop PC?
i want 2 make it a slave and connect it via PCI slot and not via USB.

does the slave drive have to have the same OS for data recovery?

i was planning on recovering my old hard drive and i know how to slave it and all that but i was wonder; because i am currently running Windows 7 and my old hard drive, that i was going to slave to recover the data, is XP i think, i was wondering if i have to do a dual boot on my computer so i can run XP to recover the files or not….PLEASE HELP!!

HDD as a slave not working emitting beep sound?

My five-year old HDD Maxtor 3.5 Series Diamond Max 40GB HDD Made in Singapore stopped working recently. I plugged it into another PC as a slave drive but its not readable and only thing it does is emitting repeating beep sound (like the sound of the machine measuring live heartbeats in hospitals), how can i rescue my data?

HELP.. I need to recover data from my crashed HDD. It was connectied to PC as a slave on the same belt?

Now I am trying to connect this HDD again so I can recovere data from It, but System doesn’t recognize it anymore. …..
BIOS doesn’t recognize it anymore…and even with this HDD on it doesn’t recognize my master.. but after I remove it, master works ……

Can you recover data from a raid drive hooked up as a slave drive?

The main drive crashed. The computer has been formatted. Is there a way to hook up the other drives as slave drives and recover the data? Is there anyway to go about recovering data from raid drives?
There were three hard drives. Two of them are 250GB, and the third is a 320GB. Is there a way to access the two 250GB HDD’s data somehow?
