restore data on an old ipod?

06 Jun

I had a PC and my ipod was formatted to the PC itunes version. The PC crashed and I lost all the data on my PC. My ipod won’t read on my new computer, a Macbook Pro.
Is there any way I can get back all the data I have on the ipod? I know I can restore some of the songs and videos from backed up CDs but what about the photos I have on the ipod? Is it only songs that were backed up that can be recovered?
That program doesn’t seem to be working for me, and now my Ipod is locked on “do not disconnect”. The program tells me that it can’t find my ipod.

How do I recover deleted Registry entries if I did not do a back-up restore point earlier?

20 May

while trying to delete some entries clean up a virus, I have accidentally deleted some entries that read something like %SystemRoot%\dll…..

After that, I am unable to download emails into my Outlook.

Is there anyway I can recover the deleted entries (which I cannot remember the path or value+data) without having to reformat my entire OS?

Thank you.

How to restore a partition?

18 May

I have an HP computer that I just bought, and it came with a backup image of everything on the D: Drive. What happened was, I transferred files from my old hard drive into the new one and I accidently deleted the recovery partition (D Drive). I did not format it. Is there anyway I can just recover the whole partition? I know there’s a way to recover data in it (piece by piece). But I just want the partition to be recovered as the way it was when I first got it, can this be done?

**Urgent** To Restore / Recover PC system?

14 May

Hello,

I need your advice about how to restore my Windows XP operating system.

Basically, I ‘ ve been trying to login into my PC desktop but did not make it go because my screen kept showing a big ” Window XP ” logo with a green bar located on the bottom of the screen. And, that green bar is something that indicates the process of reading the files and data in my PC before I can get on to desktop.

I truely don ‘ t want to loss my data and files that were originally saved in my PC ?

Could anyone tell me to restore my PC ?

Also, I know there ‘ s a restore CD in place to recover the system but not sure where to find it ?

Thank you very much

Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 – can’t restore to factory settings.?

10 May

Can’t Recover my Laptop with Out-Of-The Box HDDrecovery Utility.
Hi.

I have a Laptop with a 80Gb hard drive that came pre-installed with windows Vista Home Basic. It originally had 3 partitions: 1. A hidden Toshiba System Volume… I know that this is the Windows Recovery Environment Partition vista creates. 2. My C: Drive, and 3. HDDRECOVERY… a toshiba installed partition that should allow me to reformat and recover my hard drive with its out-of-the-box settings.

Recently, I’ve decided to dual-boot with Ubuntu, and so I partitioned my 68 GB partition (the C: Drive), and made a 55 GB Vista one and the rest went into an EXT3 Partition with my ubuntu on it.

I didn’t like th GRUB loader, so I decided to try and use System Commander (it’s a Boot Manager that allows you to select from a graphical menu on boot).

Unfortunately, System Commander basically wreaked havoc with my MBR, and all my OSs won’t boot anymore.

I’ve used the Ubuntu LiveCD to copy all my personal files (music, documents, videos… etc) into my External Hard Disk Drive. I had planned to use Toshiba HDD Recover to restore my computer to its vista state.

I had successfully accessed this utility by pressing ‘0′ on boot. However, after I tried it’s options about restoring the system to out-of-the-box settings, it didn’t work.

When I used to option restore all default partitions (I assume this would reconfigure my computer to a 3partition HDD), it said error: Unable to create partition.

(this error also aparently unformatted that partition… I had to reformat it in the Ubuntu Live-CD environment… and it would seem that all my date in that partition has been lost)

When I try to option on restoring the laptop but keeping my own current number of partitions, it says that their isn’t enough space in my Hard Drive. Which is rather strange.

I’m afraid to use the option “Erase all data from Disk”… shall this option reformat my hard drive? How will I ever restore my Vista (it’s expensive, and I naturally don’t have a DVD or a serial key with me, as Toshiba no longer ships Disks with its laptops… only recovery partitions)?

My latest idea was copy the entire HDDRECOVERY PARTITION to my EXTERNAL HDD, then erase all data from the Disk, then using Ubuntu Live CD, create a partition in the unformatted hard disk and use the partition… hopefully, that would work. But I have doubts that the TOSHIBA SYSTEM RECOVERY utility that uses the images in the HDDR partition is standalone- it might need vista to run. and if I format the disk, there won’t be any vista left, wouldn’t there be?

I could really use some help.

P,S, In retrospect, I feel very dumb for not creating a Recover DVD… relying on a recovery partition is bad.

How can I restore my registry (due to corruption from viruses) for my soundcard?

30 Apr

I’m having some virus trouble and since then I have no sound. I have a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 24 bit Soundcard installed.

Control Panel Says: “Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)”

The viruses load up on boot, ending the viruses on task manager stops a blue screen error, but the viruses won’t be detected by my anti-virus.

I tried to do system restore, to a point 2 days ago, when the sound worked and I keep getting blue screen errors saying your computer has been shut down to prevent hardware damage.
I can’t start my computer in safe mode either, and last known good configuration gets the same blue screen error.
I also have “Registry Mechanic” back-ups for my registry for various dates, but this fails to solve the problem too.

I try and play a file in winamp and get the following error with a loud beep:
Nullsoft Direct sound output v.2.47 (d) error. Bad directsound driver, please install proper drivers or select another device in configaration.
Error code: 88780078

Direct x says: “No sound card was found. If one is expected, you should install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.”

Please can you link me the drivers for my Soundcard or provide any other help for restoring the registry.

“do you have sytem restore”
I have one for 30 October 2008 (made by Registry Mechanic) so there will be a back up of my registry. But I get a blue screen hardware error.

I also tried this: http://www.downloadatoz.com/windows-registry/faq,how-to-repair-windows-code-19-registry.html

However, Registry Booter would not install due to this error: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315353
