I did a direct 3D acceleration display test because of a game graphics corruption, and the test read errors of 3D 8 interfaces, and 3D 9 interfaces. Do I have to uninstall and reinstall directX, or is there a way I can fix this part of the driver? And How for both?

I have a hard drive that can’t be accessed anymore. That means that I can’t even see it in the BIOS configuration screen. I already tried it in other computers and got the same result.
Ans as to data recovery, I don’t know how I will do it because is non-accessible to begin with.
I tried to detect the hard drive with different data recovery softwares. But it doesn’t detect it to begin with.
I think the hard drive needs a physical repair.

i dont know how to fix my programs in vista …..i deleted all the important dll files of windows media player and some other programs by accident…..now those programs wont work and windows is bugging me everytime i log onto windows….is there a way in which i can recover those lost files? or is it best if i just format my whole laptop? i would really appreciate ur help..

My 3.5 external HDD accidental fell from my computer table to the hardtop chair while it was powered & connected to my PC. Now when connected to mains the power indicator comes “ON”, but it is not detected by the PC. There is no sound & there is no external damage to the HDD. Contains data dear to me. Can the HDD be repaired ? How can I recover data?

I have(or had) an external HDD – Samsung – 100 GB, that is basically notebook HDD + external casing.
Yesterday it accidentally fell.
Now my laptop no longer detects it.

Hello.
I would like to know what software I can use to map out bad sectors. No repair or data recovery, just map them out and move on. The drive has so many that I left it all night and it only has 1% completion. Also, I know it’s pretty damaged so I want a fast answers if I can use some of it or not.
Please tell me what utility maps out bad sectors automatically without trying to recover data and/or repair them.

I have recovered JPG files from a memory stick SD type, the files header are missing as well as footers, therefore they have just data if you view them in HEX. How may I recover these file to viewable? Nokia N70 and Nokia N80 was used to take these photos. I have tried all the revocery software available on the net but they do not work, the erros are all similar “bad or missing header” so with photoshop and opening it with RAW just presents snow. ACDSEE just show a blank (black image).
Is my harddrive really beyond repair?

My computer cannot detect my harddrive.
At the bios page where it says IDE channel master, slave and all the other sata ports it says none.
I’ve tried connecting it with other sata and power cables and it still wouldn’t detect.
I called Western Digitial customer support and they ask me if I felt the hdd was spinning and I said no. They told me it was beyond repair and I need to send it in to get my data recovered.
I really don’t think it’s my hdd problem since I have two connected but both wouldn’t detect. This problem has only surfaced a week ago, but my computer has been working fine for two months straight before.
Is there any other method I can try before throwing in the towel??

The hard drive on my computer has failed. Not sure why … I suspect a power surge.
It is running xp pro.
I badly need to get it up again – mainly just to get my data off of it.
I don’t have another system to put the drive on as slave.
And because I do NOT have the system cd’s/disks, I can not access the Repair Console with system disks. I also have no rescue disks.
I HAVE managed to get into the drive through a dos based tool called NTFS4DOS.
Now that I am in, I am trying to figure out if it is possible to initiate the repair process … ANY automated repair process from DOS … in particular “XP System Restore” … but really, anything that actually got Windows XP gui to boot back up would be fine.
From DOS I can access the winnnt\repair folder but there is nothing that looks like an executable that would start any sort of “system repair” (although there are some files without extensions.)
A couple things …
1) Dell wants $130 for replacement disks because my computer is just out of warranty, so that’s out of the question. (I can’t afford $30 right now much less $130)
2) I’ve ran Western Digital’s drive tools and the drive has passed as far as any damage that would have caused the crash.
I ran checkdisk (from the NTSF4DOS tool) and, for whatever reason, on the Index Verification test it reported: “deleting index entry desktop.ini in index $130 of file 9532 and 9533″ I have no idea what this means.
3) I suspected MBR corruption but checkdisk did not report anything like that … I suppose this is still a possibility.
I really really need to find a way to repair this drive to bootable condition … HELP!!

ive taken drive apart before and short of not touching the platters they always seem to work fine when i put them back together now if i want to do data rescue or drive repair are there any proffessional tools to make taking them apart easier?
are there hard drive repair shops that can transfer a platter to a new drive?

My computer crashed while I was working in Word. When I tried to re-open the file, Word tried to access the auto-recovery file but said it was corrupted. I managed to find the *.tmp temporary file for my Word document and viewed it with Notepad. It has a good portion of my text in there, but it also has garbled other stuff. Is there any way to repair and recover the data inside? I’ve tried a couple programs without any luck.
