The computer is giving me the blue screen of death (error 0×0000007f). It loops and I can’t fix it. I’ve tried almost everything. Im to the point where I’ve already reinstalled windows on another hard drive and Im ready to pull data off my old hard drive. The old hard drive contains all of my Outlook Express files but I don’t know how to recover them and make them functional in my new Windows Environment. I’ve scanned the HD for bad sectors and also the memory on the computer. Copying the .mbx files is a good tip. What about the address book? It seems as though you have to make registry changes, so how do I get them?

My situation:
A family member wanted a laptop restored to stock conditions–after backing up pertinent data, I proceeded with a quick format, OS + App reinstall… only to find out that important contact and calendar/scheduling information was not saved!!
Setup: same XP prof. OS, partitioning, programs (outlook 2003 in particular), (matching) account-name.
I’ve tried several recovery tools (Migo’s recover lost data & recover my files). The latter is unique in that it pulls up both written and overwritten files, yet I’ve been able to discover 0 .wab/.pst files that should have been in the appdata/microsoft/outlook folder… I should have at least found overwritten files. Anyone have suggestions for recovering Outlook files after formatting?
If we start Outlook configuration from scratch, will any contact data be retrieved if they enter the email address they used previously?
TIA for any and all help provided!
Additionally… does anyone know the name of the file(s) + folder where the calendar/scheduling data is stored?

How do I recover lost offline OUTLOOK contacts and calendar data?
When trying to set up an outlook POP for GMail I removed the ‘exchange
server’ that I thought was associated with a former employer. This apparently deleted my off-line contacts and my calendar. I cannot restore them. have found a couple of big pst files but I can’t seem to link them into Outlook.
I believe that my data was stored in an .OST file. I found an .OST which was last updated just before I removed the server. I am pretty sure that my data lives in here. I no longer have any of the information related to the removed server such as username and password. Is there any way to retrieve this data?
It might be necessary to have some interaction on the phone in order to maximize efficiency rather than a series of e-mails.

My motherboard went out, so I bought a new mobo, ram, etc, but the hard drive is still good. Plugged everything in, and it won’t boot up. I get an error, “System32\drivers\ntfs.sys” is missing or corrupt. I am told that this is something Microsoft does to combat software piracy. That’s fine. I’ve done a fresh install on another drive, and copied all my files over. The only thing I still need to do is get all my information from Outlook. My last PST backup was in December, so that’s useless. If there was a way to open Outlook on this drive, and make a backup, all would be fine – any ideas?

Microsoft Outlook is the de-facto standard for office communication. A typical office employee’s entire workflow consists of tasks, contacts, and email exchange in Microsoft Outlook. But what happens if one day a system crash happens, or a hard drive fails, or some malware targets and corrupts your Outlook data? Does this mean the end of the day for your entire office?
