system disk so I’d tried to installed and reformat . On that day , it was successful but on the second day it goes back to the same problem.

my hard drive was changed recently by DELL becuase they told me that my hard drive should be changed in order for my computer to work fine. they did it and the problem with my computer was solved but i had a lot of IMPORTANT files on the other hard drive that they took out. I bought a hard drive enclosure today and tried it & the computer reads it as a hard drive (just like a external one) but when you click on it to open the drive, a message: “Error performing inpage operation” comes up and it doesnt open the drive in order for me to resotre my data. is there any way to recover my data other than a data recovery serive which costs thousands of dollars and they recover the files on the hard drives that are busted or burned but mine isnt like that it. ???????????? HOW?

Basically, I have 3 external hard drives, C: D: E: which are partitioned. The “C” drive was mistakenly formatted. Once I was able to recover the PC, drive C and D are okay, however for some reason “E” is not. When I click on to open it, it asks if I want to format it. I say “NO” because I am afraid of losing the files that are still there. Is there a way for the PC to recognize the files in the “E” drive to recover them or should I take this to a PC shop?
Help! My document is opening and the text is in all number sings (open office)?

I am a writer and while I have my stuff on back up in the past week I have been sick and so I’ve been writing more than normal and hadn’t had a chance to back up yet as that was what I do each week. I went to open my file in open office and it said something about a corruption in the language area or something. I didn’t know what to do so I tried opening the document (stupid on my part I know) and it’s all in number signs. Every other document works but the most important one with over two hundred pages of stuff that was to be saved tonight. I have tried system restore and it wont let me restore anything saying it can’t be restored to each point I go to. Can anyone help me??
None of it works or helps. We’ve tried it all.
I did have it automatically saving as it saved every five minutes but now it’s showing it as not being saved. 
Bad things seem to always happen to me.
Does anyone have any other ideas. I really appreciate the time spent in helping me with this.
Who can tell me why Files Or Folders can’t Open ?

I Downloaded ( Recover My Files ) you should know this program this program to recover deleted files emptied from the Windows Recycle Bin, or lost due to the format or corruption of a hard drive also with all it cover Software.Ok,i do it and recovered some files but when i open files that i covered the files cant be open if it .rar the message says ((( The archives is either in unknown format or Damaged ))).What is the problem and i tried more Problem such as ( Recuva ) And other program but i failed and i cant open my recovered files.

I have recently build a computer from scratch and yesterday I turned it on for the first time. I had a copy of Windows 7 and was ready to boot it. When I turned it on it gave me the usual boot stuff, but the dvd drive wont open. The light flashed periodically but nothing happens when I press the open tray button. Any suggestions would be great.
Is it safe to open the files that “help describe the problem” when Windows recovers from unexpected shutdown?

I’ve just gotten a new laptop (Toshiba) last Monday after my hard drive failed on my Dell for the second time – which I plan to replace at a later time. Anyhow, I was transferring a couple videos from my external hard drive to my laptop hard drive when I got a blue screen. I’ve already scanned my entire E-HD for viruses/spyware with Norton. Coincidentally, I was moving a couple workout videos, which happened to be open for a couple hours when my last laptop failed. Of course that frightened me considering what happened to my Dell. Are these files simply stating what went wrong, or are they the corrupt data?

It’s kinda weird, but every time I connect my USB external harddisk to my laptop, and try to play a mp3 music on it with windows media player, it fails. I cannot open it in from inside media library either.
This is the error:
“Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.”
The only way I can open the files, is to play it with another player (VLC in this case), which plays it with no problem, and then retry using Windows media.
why does this problem happen?!?
I already have had checked this with both windows 7 and vista.
is it possible to recover a file from hard disk if i open and work it from a pen drive and close the file..?

If i open a doc or excel file from a pen drive, edit it, get print out…. is it possible to recover the data from the hard disk in case the pen drive get damaged… or lost

My 320gb Seagate external hard drive is corrupted and i want to try to attach it as an internal hard drive to see if i can recover the data. I need to know how to open the hard drive so that i can hook it up internally if that is possible.

it doesn’t have the latches and isn’t in the shape of the my book ones. i don’t see any screws, and i don’t want to start pulling on some random parts in case i break it.

Hello folks,
I’ve got a problem with all of my .exe files.
I can’t get any of them to open.
That’s the desktop files, the ‘All Programs’ files and
any files on any of my hard drives with an .exe extension.
The computer boots up as normal and everything else is
accessible; clipart, music etc.
I’ve obviously got corruption or missing system files
somewhere, other than that I’m stuck.
And another thing is that when ever i open a exe file i get the ‘Open with’ message.
If you are sure of a software that can fix this Problem then please Let me know.
All help and advice greatly appreciated.

I had a windows xp installed on dev/sda1(c: ). Then I installed open suse 11.1 on a different partition(sda8 or sda9 I don not remember).
Everything was working proper. I wanted to edit the grub settings to change the timeout and change default to windows. I did change the timeout to 25 and then checked something else(I do not remember now). When I restarted I got no operating system found.
Then I used the suse 11.1 DVD and did something, I got the suse back and also the failsafe suse in the os choices menu but windows was not there. I logged in and was able to access all the drives except the one in which windows was present(c: ). though I was able to see it when I navigated through /root but the contents were not present.
Then I used a live cd(not suse live). When I logged in, I was able to see all the drives also C, but when I tried to open it, I got a message saying something like “the file system was not valid or is not proper ntfs or something like that.
Is all my data lost? Can I recover them and make them proper. Do I have to make changes to grub.conf? If so please tell me in detail. I am new to linux.
Also tell me where I can learn thing like these.
I have a 40 GB HDD.
Can I use any freeware on lunux platform so that I can recover the data from windows partition?

Basically my computer crashed and i retrieved all files such as jpeg photos and all word processing documents. i was able to restore most of the pics with minimum corrupt files but when i try to restore and open the word processing files they show all sorts of sysmbols and not the actual text. i tried to open from the different list of programs but none work. All the documents were done in either word, excel, microsoft office or microsoft works. how can i convert back or are they all lost?
