I partitioned my Harddrive when i installed Windows 7 on my laptop. I kept my C drive for my operating system and all of my software, and my E drive for my personal files. I later discovered that there was about a gigabyte of of unallocated space. I re-partition my E drive and extended the volume and filled that gap and restarted like it told me. I looked in my E drive and its wiped off over 3GB’s of music. What the hell happened? Is there any way to recover it?

I have a CD with valuable photos on it that is about a year old. When I try to open the folders on the CD my computer tells me they are empty. Is there any way I can recover the photos, they really meant a great deal to me?
What really makes me angry is that I only use these special golden CD-s that should be extra trustworthy
I just bought a 1Tb hdd, Western Digital Caviar Green, after i created a partition and i formatted the drive, i copied 830GB of data on it. Afterward i moved the drive to another PC and the partition just didn’t showed up. All i got was 931 GB Unallocated Space.
I used a data recovery software and i’ve seen all my files there, but i can’t get them out (i don’t have another drive with 830 GB free space to copy the files from the unallocated area).
How can i make a partition in that Unallocated space without losing the data that’s there?
There’s no os installed, chkdsk does not help since the drive does not even have a letter.
Also, most data recovery programs do not even recognize the drive (maybe it’s because of it’s large file size).
Mr. Mark, I would try what you recommended if i know that I won’t just get a brand new partition with nothing on it (i don’t want that). Were you in a same situation and that program helped you recover your partition with your files on it?
The original computer is somewhat 300 miles away, that’s why i bought the drive in the first place, to move this data. So i can’t test it on the other PC.
Both systems have XP sp3
I finally managed to make it work. I’d be happy to share how to whoever needs it but i used a shareware product and it’s $50. Maybe there’s something freeware that manages to do the exact same thing and i just couldn’t find it. Kudos for all the nice replies.
An unmountable or inconsistent state in Sun Solaris Sparc operating system primarily occurs due to file system damage, operating system malfunctioning, Kernel damage (completely or partially), virus infection, and more. Data stored on your hard drive becomes inaccessible after you your system comes into an unmountable state. To overcome such situations, an easy way is to restore data from a complete backup. But if in case, you have not maintained any backup or backup file is unable to restore the required data, then you will need to use advanced Sun Solaris Data Recovery Software to recover your lost data.
Consider a practical scenario, where you removed a Solaris 10 Kernel patch118833-36for SPARC using “svccfg delete” command when the “milestone” parameter is set to null. However, when you attempt to restart your system, it does not boot making all the hard drive inaccessible. Furthermore, when you attempt to reboot your system (Single User Mode), you encounter below error message:
“booting with command: bootBoot device: rootdisk File and args:not found: get_cpu_pagesizesdo_relocations: /platform/sun4v/kernel/cpu/sparcv9/SUNW,UltraSPARC-T1 do_relocate failedkrtld: error during initial load/link phasepanic – boot: exitto64 returned from client programProgram terminated{0} ok”
The system becomes unusable after the above error message appears.
Cause:
The above issue primarily occurs when both the below conditions are true:
A patch is being deleted using the “svccfg delete” command.
The “milestone” parameter is not assigned “all” value.
Resolution:
To resolve the above issue, you will need to reinstall Sun Solaris Sparc operating system. Data stored in the hard drive partition gets completely erased after you perform a clean reinstall. For complete recovery of lost data in such situations, you will need to use effective Sun Solaris Sparc Data Recovery Software. Such recovery applications use high end scanning procedures to recover lost data to recover data from formatted hard drive. These Sun Solaris Sparc Data Recovery applications perform recovery after fsck command fails to repair the system data structures.
Stellar Phoenix (Solaris – Sparc) software is a efficient Sun Solaris Data Recovery application that recovers all lost, missing, and deleted data from Solaris operating system on Sparc platform. This non destructive recovery application is compatible with UFS file systems. It gets installed on Windows (2003, XP, 2000, NT, ME, 98, and 95) and the affected UNIX hard drive should be connected as slave.
You happen to be using your laptop when all over sudden all your information disappears! Or as you are carrying it, the bag strap accidentally gets cut and your laptop drops! So then, what do you do?
The good news is that your data can be recovered depending on the amount of damage and scope of the data. Your laptop can go through a hard drive recovery process so that your information may be retrieved. If, for example you lost data through accidental erasure, you may want to check your recycle bin. If it’s there, you can right-click on the file and choose the ‘Restore’ option and you will have recovered your data.
Let’s say you don’t get your information in the recycle bin. You cab use ‘do-it-yourself’ recovery software to recover your files. This recovery software has got procedures and instructions that can be followed to retrieve the files. Such software can be downloaded free from the internet, even for free. But there is a risk involved: the software may or may not work and it has also been known to cause more damage if not carefully followed. More damage means more or even permanent data loss. This software should be used with IT technicians who have knowledge on the software, otherwise KEEP OFF or risk losing your data PERMANENTLY!
The most advisable thing to do after losing your laptop data is to call a data recovery specialist or company. These are people who have the necessary knowledge, skill and technology for recovering your data. They will carry out the necessary diagnosis and give a detailed report on the data can be recovered. For example, if your laptop hard drive fails and the problem is mechanical, the data recovery companies have special labs in which the hard drive can be opened and reconstructed. They also have the necessary software and technology for carrying out the data recovery process.
Therefore, if you lose your files, folders or anything important, make that all important call to the data recovery company. The choice is yours. Make it wisely!
Everybody knows how frustrating it could be to experience the computer problems; on the other hand eventually everyone experiences them. If you have ever searched on Internet on computer problems then you probably know that there is a huge amount of information provided there about these issues.
You are not the first person to come across the computer problems. Though, just because you are coping with such kinds of troubles; it does not mean that you will have to run out and buy a completely new computer.
Nobody wants to cope with the technical aspects of possessing a computer. In spite of everything, most of the users have no idea what it actually takes to keep the computers working in the best way.
It is best to handle the computer problems right now before they become worse and ultimately there is nothing that you could do for them. If the computer problems become worse, they could lead to the nightmare of data loss.
Generally the problems occur with the logical parts of your systems. These problems are generally the file system corruption, operating system corruption, registry damage, virus attack, boot failure, MBR corruption and many alike.
Nevertheless the type and reason of problem, if you don’t cure them in time, you may get caught by serious problems and may face the catastrophic problems of data loss.
The data loss is something, which is not desirable by any of the computer user in any way. But it happens without any prior notice. Every computer user may experience the data loss in one or the other way.
The logical data loss is the situation where your system works fine but you can’t access and use the required files. In such situations, if the lost data includes some business critical information, you may face the worst case scenario of business destruction.
As the problems occur, solutions are also invented and the same thing is with data loss also. The data recovery companies have invented powerful software programs to handle each kind of logical data loss. These software are known as data recovery software.
The data recovery software are the influential applications which are capable of systematically scanning the affected hard drive or any other storage media and extracting all of the data from them.
Stellar Information Systems Ltd is the leading data recovery software provider company, having the most excellent track record. The company provides hard drive recovery software for all computer operating systems including Windows, Macintosh, UNIX, Linux and Novell.
All these hard disk recovery software are extremely powerful and able to recover data in each and every case of data loss. Using these software is very easy as they have interactive and simple user interface with prosperous graphical support.
The data loss is a panicking situation that generally occurs without any warning. It can even cause damage to our data stored on the hard drive when there are no settings changed by us in the operating system or BIOS. In such cases, we can use the Data Recovery software to get the lost data back. Whenever the data loss takes place, for effective and easy recovery you need Data Recovery software.
The data loss situations cause loss of business critical information. The data has to be retrieved from your system to avoid the business from coming to a stand still. The Data Recovery software will surely help you in the following situations:
o Accidental deletion of critical business or personal files o Hard drive formatting o File system corruption o Operating system corruption o Virus attack o Software malfunction
In any of these situations, you may not be able to access your precious data from the hard drive. In such cases, to gain access of your data, you are required to thoroughly scan your hard drive using Data Recovery software.
The Data Recovery software are different for every computer operating system and file system. For example, if you have lost data from Windows hard drive that is formatted using NTFS file system, then you need to go for a Hard Drive Recovery software that supports recovery from Windows operating system and NTFS file system.
Most of the Data Recovery software come equipped with interactive and self descriptive user interface. To perform Hard Drive Recovery using these software, you do not need to have any sound and prior technical knowledge. Data Recovery software are read only in nature and thus keep your valuable data unaltered and intact. They do not perform any write operation to the hard drive.
Stellar Information Systems Limited, the globally leading and most trusted data recovery company, provides high quality Data Recovery applications for various platforms and software. Stellarâs Data Recovery software are available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, UNIX, BSD and Novell Netware operating systems. Being the foremost Data Recovery company, Stellar provides free demo versions of all its Hard Drive Recovery software. These demo versions can be downloaded from Stellarâs website.
Any person using the binary basket (the computer system) for any sort of work definitely deals with the issue of data loss at some or the other point. This can happen due to some reasons that even the user cannot avoid because bugs are a by-product of using the binary bag and till today computer applications are not free from corruption. In all these scenarios, the user becomes the victim and he is the one who loses the most.
Previously, the only way to deal with data damage disaster was to utter some words and then start the reconstruction of data from scratch again. Sounds eccentric? It surely is! Starting over again from the beginning and redoing the effort every time the data is lost can surely make any user berserk. Fortunately, todayâs generation is blessed with other ways of dealing with data loss problems. The best one is the use of data recovery software tools. Whether there is an accidental deletion of a file or complete crash of the hard disk or if the computer catches a data-corrupting virus; data recovery is the solution on which the users can bank upon with closed eyes. But again, closing the eyes completely at the time of choosing a data recovery software product will again drop the user into another trouble pit. So, choosing the right software is also imperative.
Unfortunately, the initial reasons of data corruption cannot be reversed or avoided. It is almost impossible to prevent the entry of such problems. No matter how vigilantly a user treads, some virus can still sneak in at some or the other point, hard disks will wear out and even crash often. To cry over the spilt milk will solve no problem, but to act smarty by using a data recovery tool will save the day for the data loss victims. Prevention is surely a good way but while talking of computers, prevention is not always the only way to handle data loss scenarios. The computer forensics team will tell that whole computer field is built on one concept and that is â âNothing is fully erased from computerâs memory. Every data item leaves a thumbprint or some type of trace or remnant on the system.â Therefore data recovery software tools can help to bargain data retrieval with data loss in any corruption scenario.
SQL Server Corruption MS SQL is a great database management system to manipulate data. It is used extensively in a plethora of organizations. A corruption in SQL Server can surely victimize many users and organizations. In such cases, every organization is forced to act towards getting back their crucial SQL data. In that case, an SQL Recovery tool would help.

Whenever a file is created on Microsoft Windows hard drive, the file gets broken into several pieces and gets fragmented. The fragments of the file are saved on different memory locations on the hard drive. Over time the fragmentation of file is increased and it results into slow performance of your Windows computer. In some situations, excessive fragmentation might cause severe damage to your Windows file system and cause critical data loss situations. At this point, you are required to opt for Hard Drive Recovery solutions to overcome this problem and retrieve your lost files. In order to improve the performance of your system in case of high fragmentation, you are required to defragment the hard drive.
For defragmenting the Windows hard drive, Microsoft Windows includes a powerful utility called Disk Defragmenter. This utility puts the pieces of related files back together, to organize the fragmented files in adjacent manner. After defragmenting the Windows hard drive, the operating system would be able to access files more proficiently. By effectively managing or organizing your files, the defragmenting would leave free hard drive space in a big storage area. Though, the hard drive defragmenting is extremely helpful for improving the system performance, but if the Windows computer loses power or it shuts down while defragmenting the hard drive, you might come across one or more of the below circumstances:
Damaged Windows file system
Lost clusters on Microsoft Windows hard drive
Missing files and folder on the hard drive
This behavior of Microsoft Windows will eventually cause the loss of your valuable and business critical data.
Cause
When you defragment the Windows hard drive, the Disk Defragmenter creates several duplicate copies of the files and then move them to unallocated hard drive clusters, prior to write the files on contiguous disk clusters. When the procedure is interrupted halfway, the files could not be written to assigned memory location and so could not be accessed.
Resolution
In these circumstances, to sort out such issue, you are required to perform hard drive recovery. This is the procedure of retrieve lost, missing or inaccessible Windows files. You can automate the recovery process using hard drive recovery software. These are third party applications, which carry out methodical scan of affected hard drive and recover all sorts of lost files. The hard drive recovery software are completely safe and easy to use as they have rich graphical user interface. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the most excellent solution to effectively handle most of the file loss situations. This software recovers lost files from FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system partitions. It supports recovery from Windows 7 RC1, Vista, 2003, XP and 2000.

For integrity and safety of your data on external/removable hard drive, you should remove the hard drive properly. If you do “hot detach” of a removable hard drive from MS Windows Vista computer, the drive may not work properly next time when you try access data from it. At the same time, you may see some warning events in system log. This behavior renders all of your critical data inaccessible and cause serious data loss. In order to retrieve lost data in such circumstances, you need to go for hard drive recovery to get your valuable data back. In a practical scenario, you may find the following events may logged into the System log of your Windows Vista computer: “Event ID: 12 The device disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.”
Furthermore, if the file system of drive is NTFS, a warning message, which resembles the following might be logged in System log: “Event ID: 57 The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur.” At this point, the drive become completely inaccessible and you encounter data loss. To gain access of your data, you need to find out the cause of this behavior and go for hard drive data recovery by sorting it out.
Root of the problem
This problem might take place when the disk is “surprise removed”. For instance, this issue is caused if you remove the hard drive without using “Safely Remove Hardware” icon in notification area to stop the drive first. NTFS (New Technology File System) uses transaction logging to offer a level of the fault tolerance. Under some circumstances, it might take long time for the transaction log to be completed.
In this case, critical data structures on the drive may get damaged and you come across data loss situations. In such critical situations, you need to opt for hard drive recovery software to retrieve all of the lost data from affected hard drive. The applications perform smooth recovery as they use advanced scanning techniques. The hard drive recovery tools have self-descriptive and simple graphical user interface and thus do not demand sound technical skills for recovery. With read-only and non-destructive conduct, the applications are completely safe to use.
Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the best ever made and the most significant tool for quick and perfect recovery. It recover all of the FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file system partitions and stored data. The software is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 RC1, Vista, 2003, XP and 2000.
