I had my jump drive in my coat pocket and slammed my car door on it. I have everything on the drive, is there any way to recover the data?

How do you recover data from a damaged jump drive?

I have a 128MB jump drive with some VERY IMPORTANT information contained on it. The problem is that suddenly the computer can’t read it. And when it does the window that comes up to show you the files is all in jibberish. This is all work related and the person that took over my position dropped the drive sometime ago and it partially opened. I was able to get it closed back and working fine but it’s been a little “quirky” since then. I insisted to this new person that they needed to back up those files onto a new jump drive, but found out today when it wouldn’t work that they never had. Is there anything that I can do to recover this info now and move it to a new jump drive?
