I have formatted ‘C’ driver before format i took backup ,my documents,desktop and favorites in the ‘D’ logical drive,after i install winxp,when i check i didn’t find those folders and it just blank,can anybody help me to guide which program can retain me back my ‘c’ drive.i try many program like ontrack and easy recovery. etc.,i recover some files and but not all.is there any program which can help me to get back my data 100%.please guide me.

So I just cleaned out my desk top short cuts..using rocket dock now..but what I didn’t know about rocket dock which i should have figured was when you put folders on it..then delete them from your desktop it deletes the contents of them on rocket dock..and I would like to see if anyone knows what programs are good for recovering these files? i see a lot but they all seem to be spam infester or work like crap crashing left and right..so what programs are good for recovering data deleted from the recycle bin?

I deleted some personal information from my recycling bin and I know it still stays on my HDD but I got this software that had this description……………Disk Redactor 1.2 is a File Shredder product from cezeo.com, Disk Redactor enables you to wipe the free space on a selected hard drive, thereby overwriting any previously deleted files, making recovery difficult or impossible. The software will not delete any of your existing files, it only wipes files that have already been deleted (but could be undeleted by data recovery programs). Disk Redactor can preserve the last 16k of a drive, an option that should be selected if you are wiping the free space on a system drive (usually C:).
I ran it and it appeared to work. So will this file be nearly impossible to recover from my hard disk?

My micro SD card has suddenly stopped being read by windows.
All the data is still on it because i can see the files in my camera (not all pictures), but now when i plug it into a PC (printer SD card reader, and netbook internal reader) it asks to format. How can i recover the data from it?

Pleeeeeaassssseeee help me. You see, because I was in hurry, I pulled out the flash drive before I click the safely remove button. The result was that my report became unreadable. Now it’s either that I typed a 6 page report all over again from memory or I find a recovery porgram. Please, do you know any free program that would allow you to recover files. If you don’t know, then I guess….I have to do my……report all over again……..*shudder*. Please, spare me the torture.
is there a way to protect an USB external disk drive’s content from errors which then make it unmountable ?

I have a mac laptop and also use bootcamp to run windows xp. but there are a few times when external USB hard drives are unplugged “by accident” (ie not properly unmounted), or that windows crashes while running data from such a drive.
This, for my NTFS+ external usb hard drives, almost always results in a broken catalog / or element which then makes the drive unmountable or unuseable. Sometimes is can be repared, by diskutilities or macdrive, but sometimes not. I’m loosing a lot of time transfering a whole disk’s content to another, then erasing reformating the drive. Is there anyway to secure the drive by software ? Ie make sure that even if the computer crashes or the power goes of or whatever, drive hierarchy can be restored, and mounted. a kind of protection for these 1Tera USB external hard disks ?
please don’t answer “be more careful”, accidents just do happen, and some of the drive’s data is valuable. At one point i even had to mount one on linux to recover te data, all of this because of an accidental unplugging. but rather than spending 20 hours recovering, i would much rather back up the drive hierachy catalog at times, to protect it and have it a safe mount point from which to work.
is this possible ?
to those who cannot be bothered to read the question properly : i am not asking how to repair a usb disk, but how to secure the info so that it wan’t be broken in such a way. please read the details before answering. And I’ve also had drives which are “unrepairable”, meaning they have to be reformated to be mounted again. i’m sick of this and want to try to protect the structure / catalogue / hierarchy of my external USB drives, IF this is possible. hence the question, which is not a question on repairing drives.
