My computer crashed, and a tech person recommended a hard drive enclosure USB 2.5 to recover the data. I see alot with 2.0, does it matter? Are there certain enclosures that are only for desktops or are they all the same? Thanks.

I leaned on the bottom left hand side of my Dell Inspiron 1525 last week and it made a snap noise and then proceeded to make a dead sounding beep beep buzzing noise for about 10 seconds. Everything crashed and it turns out my hard drive is broken. I ordered an external hard drive enclosure but it doesn’t seem to want to work or be recognized when I plug it in my computer. SO how broken is my hard drive really? And is it possible to get my files back, without going to a professional and/or buying anything? If I do have to go to a professional approximately how much (in CDN) would it cost?
Please and thanks, any help on this issue would be appreciated. Technology clearly hates me and I clearly hate Dell!

My 320gb Seagate external hard drive is corrupted and i want to try to attach it as an internal hard drive to see if i can recover the data. I need to know how to open the hard drive so that i can hook it up internally if that is possible.

it doesn’t have the latches and isn’t in the shape of the my book ones. i don’t see any screws, and i don’t want to start pulling on some random parts in case i break it.

Toishiba laptop won’t boot anymore and I need to get the data out of the hard drive. I know I can’t place this hard drive into another computer as it will not boot, however is it possible to place it in an enclosure and transfer the data via usb?
