My hard disk is full of bad sectors and yesterday whaen I opened my computer, I found that windows had labled my drive as RAW. I had all my important data in that drive(c:). i want to recover the data at least . Is there any way out? plz suggest.

I know the files on my hard disk are still good because one of the millions of times I’ve tried strarting windows, it worked and I checked the files. However, I didn’t backup the files while it was actually working. Since then starting windows has not worked. Do I need a Windows XP disc to try to repair it? Otherwise, is there a way to open the files on my desktops corrupt hard drive onto my laptop to copy the files and then just replace the corrputed hard disk that exists in my desktop with a new one?

During start up the computer slowly goes to the boot screen.However a message comes saying disk boot failure.What should I do and how to make it go faster?

some software can recover file so i want to permanently delete some files but i had already deleted some files that i want to permanently delete i know that some software delete all the deleted file permanently even after their normal deletion and no file can be recover by any software or undelete . please tell me a free software like this

I have a mac laptop and also use bootcamp to run windows xp. but there are a few times when external USB hard drives are unplugged “by accident” (ie not properly unmounted), or that windows crashes while running data from such a drive.
This, for my NTFS+ external usb hard drives, almost always results in a broken catalog / or element which then makes the drive unmountable or unuseable. Sometimes is can be repared, by diskutilities or macdrive, but sometimes not. I’m loosing a lot of time transfering a whole disk’s content to another, then erasing reformating the drive. Is there anyway to secure the drive by software ? Ie make sure that even if the computer crashes or the power goes of or whatever, drive hierarchy can be restored, and mounted. a kind of protection for these 1Tera USB external hard disks ?
please don’t answer “be more careful”, accidents just do happen, and some of the drive’s data is valuable. At one point i even had to mount one on linux to recover te data, all of this because of an accidental unplugging. but rather than spending 20 hours recovering, i would much rather back up the drive hierachy catalog at times, to protect it and have it a safe mount point from which to work.
is this possible ?
to those who cannot be bothered to read the question properly : i am not asking how to repair a usb disk, but how to secure the info so that it wan’t be broken in such a way. please read the details before answering. And I’ve also had drives which are “unrepairable”, meaning they have to be reformated to be mounted again. i’m sick of this and want to try to protect the structure / catalogue / hierarchy of my external USB drives, IF this is possible. hence the question, which is not a question on repairing drives.

i had a laptop disk i reformatted to hold new data then realized i never took the data i wanted off of it. can i still retrieve data without taking it to someone?? i have a usb device to use old harddrives. can i still get info off it after formatting thanks
sorry ment reformatted hard drive. have not added anything to it. was using for back up and realised used the wrong one. can i get info off of it now

system disk so I’d tried to installed and reformat . On that day , it was successful but on the second day it goes back to the same problem.

It says every-time I turn on my amd athlon 64x windows vista laptop. This lab Top says its intimate to shut off . Make sure you recover data before its all erased. can i still use my computer. or everything even the sound,graphics card,motherboard,and vista program will be erased.

MY computer randomly restarted and it went to a black screen that said disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter if i hit my killswitch (power thingy) and turn it back on it comes back but i want to know how to fix it so it wont happen again

I changed the computer and try to use my old 200 Seagate IDE NTFS at the new vista computer. When I connected the IDE disk, I saw it at Bios and also at the computer management in dynamic form.
Unfortunately, I converted the dynamic disk to basic disk w/o back up.
Now disk wants to be formated when I try to acces from “My computer” in every computer I connect to.
Is there a way to recover data.
would you please be specific more that saying try this software, maybe it helps.
I am sure someone has faced this problem and I would like to hear if there is an exact solution..

I recently bought a brand new Western Digital(WD Caviar Green) 500GB SATA/32MB Cache WD5000AADS Hard disk.I installed Windows XP 2002 on it and copied all data from previous 80GB hardisk.Silly mistake was that I deleted data on 80GB hdd after copying it to big hdd .Everything was going fine and but I had this problem.My Windows on 500GB hdd became corrupt or something.I tried to recover some lost files through the bootable XP cd but it didnt help.I was afraid to loose data so I connected my old 80GB hardisk to copy my data back on it (C,D,E,F partitions were already present on 80GB hdd and I had also installed Windows XP on my 80GB hdd for emergency need ).At that time the WD hardisk was detected in the My Computer and showed the partions G,H,I,J as it was acting as secondary hardisk.I copied 17 GB of data from WD500GB back to 80GB seagate luckily(I had most of my valuable data on D,E,F on WD500GB so Windows on C was not a big prob and I was ready to install it again on WD hdd All problem started after quick formatting it and reinstalling windows….it couldnt install..hell bad… but still C,D,E,F of WD were shown as G,H,I,J in ”My Computer” when I started Windows using old 80GB hard disk).I decided to copy rest of it the next day.On this day when I used pc and opened ”My Computer” the second hdd WD 500 GB’s partitions G,H,I,J were not showing up.I checked through partition magic and it showed the big hdd as bad and the old one was fine.My WD hdd is in warranty so i went to the shop to tell them.Most importantly i wanted the data to be safe.They said that it canot be recovered.(the person who checked was not proffesional so he just said that so I will just shooo off) My brother is really good at computer stuff so he said that hell recover it but he doesnt have time so I have to do myself.I have tried so many recovery tools for example hdd regenerator,Acronis Disk Director Suite,PC Inspector File Recovery etc.But I was unable to recover my data and 500GB hdd to normal condition(that is showing partitions and folders in the partions and music videos and all suff in folders) PLEASE HELP ! How to recover data isnt there a easy tool or something.I have a lot of precious data in there films,songs much more.Please help me recover data and then I will get Werstern Digital 500GB hdd replaced as it is in warranty.Please read wrtitngs in brakets separately and dont mix them so u can understan all this clearly.Thansks.
