Hard Drive “Click of Death”?

The other day, my computer randomly shut down, and when I got to the BOOT process, my hard drive started making a strange clicking sound that I’d never heard before, and wouldn’t even boot to POST.

I realized that my read/write head had malfunctioned, meaning there’s pretty much nothing I can do to retrieve the data on there aside from taking the drive apart and replacing the head (something that’s really dangerous to do if you don’t know how).

My question is, are there any places that will recover the data on my drive for a reasonable price? I’m a college student, and I don’t have $1000 bucks to shell out to a data recovery company. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated.

How can I obtain a death certificate for my brother who went for a Trail Walk and never returned.?

He was hiking in a National Park in Clatsop County, Oregon. He’s been missing for over two weeks now. A massive search and rescue effort was conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and no trace has been found. The Search and Rescue effort has been suspended and no further, organized, county efforts are planned. He has been entered in the national data base of Missing Persons.

Sudden death of my pen drive- how to recover data?

I am using my 40 gb external hd since 2 yrs. Yesterday suddenly, it was not opened up. I have stored all stuff in that pen drive…..From childhood to robinhood, robinhood to obamahood…….

Now is it possible to get back those data?
I am not able to open & explore my pen drive..
Can i recover the data?

I am installing xp by cd. It is giving me an error dmio.sys is corrupted. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I got a blue screen of death when I started up my computer, and now my computer won’t start. What should I do?

I run Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 4. Today, with no warning, my computer crashed. When I tried to reboot, I got a Blue Scren of Death with the message “Inaccessible Boot Drive.” I ran a CHKDSK, and got a message saying that I have unrecoverable problems. I did a FIXBOOT and FIXMBR, but neither of these fixed the problem. Three questions: 1) Is there any way to fix this without reformatting my hard drive? 2) If not, should I reformat my current hard drive or get a new one? 3) Is there any way to recover my data without paying someone else to do it?

Can you recover all your data if you have a black screen of death on your computer?

I have a black screen of death when I logged out from my dad’s account. I wait impatiently and turned off the computer. Then when I turn it on, the screen went black. Then I brought my computer to a guy to fix it. He did not reformat the drive. He just install window over it. So can i recover all my data back. Please help! Those data is super important!!!!!

PC Wont Boot Up. Blue Screen Of Death shown for a split second before restart.?

Ok, my pc used a sata hdd but i have taken it out and inserted an IDE drive. when the pc boots up it first gives me the familiar option of booting last known config, boot normally etc but any option i choose, it quickly shows the boot logo then shows a blue screen of death very quicky before restarting. Whats wrong and how can i fix it? Thanks!
