I know that I can go out and purchase a SIM card reader and use a data recovery tool to recover the data myself, but I really cannot wait for the card reader to arrive in the mail.
Does anyone know if AT&T will do it for you, considering it was THEIR phone that malfunctioned?

My PS3 died the other day and is going in for service. It’s a launch system so no warranty. I have a CECHA01 (60GB hardware) so I’m spending the extra $40 bucks for them to try to repair my system instead of taking the new 120GB model for $110.
If they are able to fix my system I’ll be able to put my 320GB hard drive back in and keep all PSN downloads and more importantly all my game saves. If they can’t repair mine, I’ll wind up with a refurb 60GB which doesn’t bother me other than the fact that when I put my old hard drive in, it will need to reformat, and I lose all the data.
My PS3 won’t power up, so I can’t do anything as easy as transfer the saved data to my PSP or any other storage device. I’ve already removed the hard drive and put it in an enclosure and connected to my PC and Mac. Both acknowledge the hard drive has been plugged in (they both beep when I plug it in) but neither can actually read the hard drive.
I know I can download the games again, and I’m not really worried about the movies and TV shows, I’m mainly concerned with my game saves. Is there any way I can salvage anything, or am I S.O.L.?

Details: I have two hard disks, one 80GB and 320 GB hard disk. I installed Linux on one of the drives of the 80GB hard disk and it used up all the space in the 320 GB hard disk as swap space. I had my important data, of almost 100GB in that 320GB hard disk from my Windows OS.
I was unaware that linux will format the drive.
Is it possible to recover the data?
if yes how or where. I’m a resident of Bangalore, India.
Please this is urgent.
thanks

My Fujitsu 160 MB portable hard disk is with me for 6 months working, then suddenly I can’t able to access my files. When I select the disk from my Windows Explorer, the mouse hourglass just keeps on showing, then it hangs. Any advise on what to do? There are important files that I need to retrieve.
Oops, its not 160 MB, its 160 GB.

Somewhat hypothetical situation:
Computer user wrote a games application in the mid-1990s stored on floppy disk (non-MFM format; actually, GCR, or Group Code Recording). User has tried virtually everything to recover the source code to this game, and even sent said floppy disk to data recovery lab for analysis.
Other than remarking to client that data recovery would cost “several thousand dollars” and “wasn’t, generally, worth the expense,” said lab sent disk back to consumer.
Short of using a time machine to go back in time and recover the lost source code, what is consumer to do in order to restore the lost data (besides spending countless hours rewriting it, which isn’t a fun/desired option)? I’m assuming even places like NASA/NSA would give consumer blank and weird stares given the oldness of the storage medium, and perhaps wouldn’t be helpful in recovering the data at all.
Thanks,
Paul
Ok, this is embarrassing…TRS-80 level embarrassing. The game was written for the Commodore 128 (an old computer like the Commodore 64).

Yesterday I dropped my Ipod in the bath. It was a Ipod Classic. The actual Ipod itself was not very good but the 3500 odd songs i had on it with no back up was AMAZING. After getting it out if the bath i panicked and did everything I could think of including charging it and turning it on and off. I then learnt this makes it worst. Is there ANY way it can be fixed with the current data still preserved ?
PLEASE HELP!

Technician said he could recover files from my damaged hard drive from software but leaves it in the raw format .ado file extension. Hopefully there is some software that can convert this back to something that can be opened.

holy crap, i am so angry, my 500gb seagate was running fine, then it started humming very loudly, made a large clunk, and does not work. seagate wants 1,400$ (!!!) to recover my 120GB of lost data. is there a cheaper data recovery service anyone knows of? Or is there anyway to make a broken (it rattles loudly if you shake it, its fried.) hard drive usable to recover data?
Thanks for the help!

I have recently gotten a replacement laptop but HP sent me back the old one to recover the data from it. Small problem–it has no power and will not turn on. I would like to transfer the data from the no-power laptop to the new one or to my desktop if that is easier. Any ideas? Please be step by step as I am very new to laptop use and only had my old one a month before the power went out on it for good. Thanks so much!!
I forgot to add that I don’t have much information on the old laptop, just a few pictures and some college notes. I don’t want to pay anyone to do the transfer and I don’t want to go through a bunch of hard core technical stuff. Is it really worth it? Please tell me the easiest possible way.
