I accidentally deleted my “documents” folder on my Vista laptop last week. I used a program called “Power Data Recovery” to get my lost files back. However, most of the files are corrupted. Is it possible to fix them or is it too late? This was all done last Monday. Thank you.

My computer is DELL XPS 600 with Windows XP professional OS. I had a hard drive (SATA Maxtor 250 GB) failure and bought a new Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA Internal Hard Drive -320GB. I install OS from recovery disk, and it works fine. I was told I can recover data from corrupted HD to new one, by installing corrupted as a slave. I know that there is no slave or master for SATA HDs. But I cannot get my original corrupted HD recognized. When I go to BIOS it is just not there. Besides, when I turn on computer- OS is not loading-the screen goes black. When I remove corrupted HD –Windows is working just fine. Any help greatly appreciated!!

Now hard dive recognized in boot menu, but still can not run OS-the screen goes black. Good HD connected to 0 SATA port, The corrupted to 1SATA port. If I switch them, computer start booting from corrupted one (does not load Windows).Anything else I can try?
can i still recover my files in my corrupted flash drive? I just insert it and i found my flash drive 0 bytes?

I inserted my flash drive in the computer and it is still detected, but the problem is when i try to open it a message pop-up “please insert disk into drive”. Can i still fix it?help me please..i need my data back…thanks!
Recover Corrupted JPEG Files?

Hi,
I recently reinstalled my OS because of viruses. Before I did this, I burned all of my data (included about 8 gig of pics of my kids, my wedding, my family, etc..)
My husband and I WATCHED THE DVD’S BURN and it said it closed them and everything..well, long story short, somehow the DVD’s ended up blank…don’t ask how, i have no idea..
i recovered all of my images immediately after i reinstalled my OS and realized the DVD’s came out empty. However, every file is corrupted.
I have tried several programs that promise to recover JPEG’s after an “accidental format” or :”accidental deletion” as they call it.
So, my question is..has anyone ever used a software that successfully recovered corrupted JPEG’s?
I will try anything! These are my memories here since my babies were born and since the day I got married!
Any suggestions would be appreciated
(ps..all of the files are named properly..)

To answer the 1st question..I recovered the files using a utility that allowed me to recover files from previous installations. They were not recovered from the DVD.

My xls, doc files are corrupted in Office 2003. (not recongnizable format) How can i recover these files ?

Due to power failure my system shutdown. After restart when i opened one of my data file in MS Word 2003. A message box opened as ” This is Not Recognizable format”. I pressed OK button. But whole of my data files in Word & Excell were corrupted. Now when i open these files these apprear in UNREADABLE language. What should i do to recover my data both in Word & Excell.

I burned a data disc and it was working fine. I got some files from it not long ago (maybe a month ago), then put it in the case and put it away. When I tried to get some more files from it last week, it wouldn’t work. If I go into “My Computer” it doesn’t even recognize that there’s a disc in the drive.
It’s not scratched up or anything. Is there a way to retrieve my stuff from the disc or is it gone forever?

What do I do from here, because none of the files show signs of corruption. I’m using system software v2.8. And also, to check to see if I put it in the right spot, I placed it inside the game folder in the PSP folder at the root level. If you can’t help, a site where I can download jap PSP games would be nice.

Jap is a STANDARD abreviation for japanese.

got some recovery DOS programs, as a master drive got ID, (drive) and a bunch of !!!!!!! in Bios, switch to slave, got ID ok but no access, second partition missing, first corrupted
any way to recover data and then reformat or throw it away.

I have a .gho file i recently made. Now i need to recover some data on from the file. When i use norton ghost to recover it to a disc it gets to about 90% and i get a file might be corrupted error. I cant use it with Ghost explorer either, it says file is corrupted.
