My computer has been infected with a virus, can’t get my data off of it. HELP!?
Our desktop computer, which we have had for several years now, was infected with a virus a short while ago. Even though I have no idea how this happened, I need the data on that computer to get recovered. I can’t get any programs to open, and the blue screen of death pops up at me after a short while. Does anyone know how to:
a. Recover the hard drive data
b. Kill the virus
Please keep in mind that I can’t really get the computer to function outside of starting up and getting to the desktop.
Thanks!

How to tell whether a hard disk has been used previously – distinguish between factory new and refurbished?
Is there any way to tell whether a given hard disk is straight from the factory or has been used previously (a refurbished one)? Assume the seller has performed sanitization operations on the hard disk, so that you can’t check and recover any data from it to indicate previous use. Is there some way, by checking the data pattern in the disk, or some other parameter, so that you are able to say with confidence that a given hard disk is spanking new, and has not been used previously on a PC.
Is it possible to recover data from an iPhone that has been formatted?

My 7 yrs old account appears to have been hijacked. How do I recover it and my email data?
I have been using the same account regularly for more than 7 years. I have plenty of folder data and old emails that I wish to recover. Just one day a couple of weeks ago my unchanged password was no longer recognized. How do I get my account restored?
Is there any way to recover files from a mac when they’ve been deleted for a few months?
I have a lot of files on my computer and I don’t really keep track of them but one file, a 300-page document I desperately need back, must’ve been deleted or corrupted in the last few months. I’ve been using an external hard drive since January and I don’t know if I accidentally deleted some files in the process of copying them..but in any case, I only have files through the letter J. I don’t really know how a hard drive works, but if it’s been a few months, have I written over what would have been my file? Is it even worth it to buy expensive data recovery software or should I just sulk and never get back my document?
Is it possible to recover deleted files that have already been emptied from the recycle bin?
I had deleted some old pics on my computer this past summer. I know it has been awhile, but I heard there were programs you can use to recover them. If so, anybody know of any good or free ones? Thanks!
How do I recover deleted emails after the recycle bin has been emptied?
I have several emails that I deleted months ago that are of importance. I’m sure they’re still on my hard drive somewhere. I have never re-fomatted my hard drive, so they should be there somewhere. HELP!
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer?
Hello, all. I have an HP Pavilion ZV6130us Laptop I got from circuit city about 3-4 years ago. I was doing my normal browsing (email, myspace, facebook), and it seemed to be working fine until last night. I was going to watch a movie on it, but the sound card drivers malfunctioned. Whenever I double-clicked on the volume icon in the lower right taskbar, a prompt would appear, saying I would have to go into the settings and turn the driver back on (I’m not 100% sure of what it said). So I finished what I was doing, and turned it off like you are supposed to via the start menu. This morning, I received a blue screen stating the following:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation, or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption., and then restart your computer.
Technical Information:
*** STOP: 0X00000024 (0X001902FE, 0XF78CE47C, 0XF78CE178, 0X89CFB889)
That’s all it says. I’m not sure if the sound issue and this error coexist. From what I’ve been researching on Microsoft’s support page, this error has to do with the NTFS HDD, or a corrupted file system/boot sequence. I could be wrong.
On this blue screen, I don’t have the option to push any buttons, therefore I have to turn it off by pressing the power button. It then loads up and tells me I can start up in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration, or start windows normally.
I’ve been able to start in safe mode twice. It won’t do it anymore, it just loads all of the drivers, and freezes. I can boot in safe mode with command prompt almost all of the time though. When I did load from the regular safe mode, I did a system restore to roughly 30 days ago, and still the blue screen existed.
I’ve also loaded the setup screen by pressing F10 I believe it was, when the computer initially powers on. I ran both short/long HDD tests. They both passed. I saved changes, and exited. After that, the blue screen. Sometimes I get the blue screen, others, I get the boot from safe mode screen. It varies. I’m unable to do the CHKDSK /F and CHKDSK /R. It says that it can’t. I’ve also inserted my WinXP cd and tried to do the repair option, no luck. It won’t do that either. I was going to attempt the ’selective startup’ option using MSCONFIG in the run command, but my next attempt, the safe mode wouldn’t load, so I couldn’t.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I can be more descriptive if need be.

can i still recover files even if my pc has been reformatted?
my pc has been reformatted last january but i read that there is a software that can locate those deleted files even if it is years already that the file has been deleted. well i forgot the name of the software so now im asking if its indeed possible to recover deleted files from the pc due to reformatting coz windows has been re-installed in this pc many times already but it still crashes and shows the blue screen until it wont boot anymore (i was told by my cousin that the cause is having mulitiple anti spyware removers, i have like 3 of them before) so now ever since it was reformatted, my pc never screws up anymore. but i would also like to take my chances and see if i can possibly recover some songs, documents and the pics of my pets that have passed away. since the pc has still 75% free space on the D drive, it might be possible that the other data has not been overwritten yet. what do you think guys? can i still recover them? how? any software that i can download to do this? any help or sugesstion is very much welcome. thanks.
