Yesterday, my pc was infected with the Anti Spyware XP 2009 trojan. I read some of the ‘bleeping computer’ about downloading the Mal ware software to remove the trojan. I did so, but now I am having trouble opening my other applications, such Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. When I try to open a word or excel document, my pc attempts to re-install the application, but I receive a message box that reads:
“Click Ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package ‘pro 11.msi’ in the box below”
Since I don’t know the path, I click on cancel and following comes up
“Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required fields. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see C;\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE 11\1033\SETUP.CHM.”
Can someone please advise how I can fix this issue? Not sure it’s necessary, but I have full internet access on my home pc and I am operating under Windows XP Service Pack 2.
I appreciate any help!
