Actually, it is very possible with this program:

Just make sure you DO NOT put anything else on the hard drive you formatted because it can permanently overwrite the data you need.

Yes… I have I tried and had good luck with the following listed below…
They all have try before you buy versions and i like them in the order listed below for ease of use and quality of the recovery.
As far as time to recover… It can take 24-36 hours on a 400GB hard drive depending on your system RAM and CPU…
LC Technologies File Recovery Pro ($99.95)http://www.lc-tech.com/software/frprodet…
    EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard ($71.96)http://www.easeus.com/landing/data-recov…
    Recover My files ($69.95)http://www.recovermyfiles.com/
I have tried a few freeware programs but could not find one that I considered decent… Also, do not confuse recovery software… Some programs will help restore formatted drives while others only help recover recently deleted files…
The easiest way to start though is to pull out the hard drive and then buy a new hard drive and install your operating system on it. You do not want to use your current hard drive as it could corrupt the data and make it harder or impossible to recover. Place your hard drive into an external enclosure easily found on eBay (make sure you get the right size… 1.8 / 2.5 / 3.5) and type (SATA / IDE / EIDE / ect…)
I just finished another recovery myself from an accidental format…

No. Once it’s formatted, only a computer forensics expert can get things off of the drive.
