Is it possible to recover data that was opened on a computer but saved to a removable drive that is now lost?

21 Mar

My girlfriend created a number of presentations with Power Point which she saved directly to her pen drive. Recently, she completely snapped her pen drive in half.

I know that data recovery software can recover files that have been completely wiped by finding some sort of faint trace. I wondered if it might also be possible to recover data that was opened but not saved on a computer because there might be some trace of the temporary files that were created when the presentations were being edited?

Does anyone know of any software that might be able to accomplish this?

Many Thanks

Look into Microsoft Office settings and see where is his temp directory then use a normal recovery tool for deleted files to scan that folder for lost files. They will end in doc extension but the first few characters of the file name will be replaced with something like ~$ so if you also know the file name it might be easier to search among deleted files.

    good luck with that!

I found a software for you. Maybe it can help you. From their website you can get a free trial download and it can find your temporary files by File Recovery or Raw Recovery function. I have tried for you. If you got your file, don’t forget to give me the points ^_^
