I deleted some songs, and, system restore didnt recover the songs, just the folder :| is there any other way i can get these songs back?

Like are there any good 3rd party programs?
Or can i really just not get them back…
most of these songs you cant just find over the internet too.. grr

My old computer died. I pulled the hard drive and put it in an enclosure. Got most of the data off but a few folders say they are empty and give me access denied. I ran virus scan on the folders and it ticks off all the files there, but I can’t copy them. Help please?

My hard disk won’t boot from WIndows XP Service Pack 1 anymore. I don’t know if my hard drive has been reformatted or repartitioned. My DOS backup floppy disk can’t find my C hard disk drive.

Hi, I’ve recently started having problems on my computer. Ever so often when while watching a video or performing some resource intensive task the computer freezes up with no mouse or keyboard response. Only a hard reset brings things back to life. However the event view does not show any errors in applications or system. Could this be a sign of impending HDD failure? if so how do I tell which disk is about to fail. I am running windows XP professional. I have also had to replace the motherboard recently and as a result of this I had to reinstall the OS, which was a clean reinstall, in fact I backed up all my data and formated each partition. Thanks in advance for any advise.
No, I don’t really play all that many games, I do use AutoCAD, Photoshop Etc and fairly large files. so you can imagine the trouble with freezing when I am in the middle of a large file. I tried Vista but the problem was even worse, so I went back to XP. I have 2GB DDR2 RAM, Processor is Core 2 Duo 2,13 GHz. I have worked with 300MB files without any issues in the past
Video card is new, replaced it only 3 months ago. I had to replace it as I live near the beach and the salt in the air had completely ruined the old Card

How to retrieve data from a recovered partition?

I have a 160 GB HDD with following partitions.

Active Partition – 40 GB
Extended Partition
* Logical 1 – 20 GB – FAT32
* Logical 2 – 100 GB – FAT32

I accidentally tried to merge Logical 2 to 1 and killed the process before it completes.

Now, I no longer have access to Logical 2 drive. I recovered the Logical 2 partition using Partition Magic, but I don’t know how to recover the files/folders.

When I logon to Windows XP, all I can see is Active & Logic 1 drives.

Any help highly appreciated.

Is there a program or something? Because I recovered some deleted pictures and zip folders with an un-delete program and when I try to open the picture in windows picture and fax viewer it says”No Preview Availible”. And when I try to open a zip folder I recovered it says: “The compressed (zipped) folder is invalid or corrupt”. But the files still have data inside them in the properties menu it says that the file(s) is 56.1 KB, so it should be able to open. Is there a program that can access the files even though they supposedly have “missing” data? By the way I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the updates and stuff. PLEASE try and answer, thanks :)

I think a CD-RW of mine with files on it is corrupted. It says: “CD-RW with unrecognised data. This disc can be formatted for read and write access.” All the files on it are gone and the only 2 files on the CD I can see are Autorun.inf and udfrinst.exe. Is it possible to recover the data?

can i recover data from my seagate hard drive that does not work anymore? I have 600 gigs of info on there and i just got it about a month ago. I turned on my Fantom drive this morning to find that the contents of an entire directory of movie files was gone. The folder listed 0 files, 0 bytes, though they were all present the day before and I know no one deleted them. But what’s weird is that when I tried to transfer some of the deleted files from my computer hard drive to the Fantom, it wouldn’t let me, saying stuff about files with those names already existing in that directory. So it’s like the data is all there – it’s just not showing up.

The hard drive was off and I know NO ONE accessed it between the last time I saw the files and this morning. I think that since it appears that the data is still present, there is a chance to save it. Any pointers?

I have a Seagate 500 GB/7200rpm something or other hard drive that suffered trauma when the Macbook it was in hit the ground. The drive is like 2 years old. I sent it to Data Recovery Labs and they quoted $1690 to recover the data. Surely there must be an alternative that *normal* people can afford? Any tips?

Hello, so while testing a firewire harddrive out(Ironically enough) the main hard drive crashed(Looks like a worm). So, after doing a diagnostic from the BIOS and finding CRAP skittered all over the disk(As in… ERROR THIS AND THIS IS BAD)… i said to myself, big deal, meet my XP install disk!
The csrss.sys file is not able to be replaced by the XP disk and it looks like some windows media 9 .exe file is corrupted too.
The computer boots through BIOS, and then starts the windows loading page with the bar moving and all and then it crashes at the same time on the same file every time(Strange: Its not the csrss.sys file either).

BASICALLY a new harddrive that fits that is 80 or 120 GB is not that expensive, so I will install a new harddrive, load XP, tadaa!! But now what… how would i go about setting up the other drive as a slave or whatnot, do i put it in the HDD2 slot and then set it as a slave in the bios? Is it easy drag/drop interface after that? thanks a bunch !

And i heard something about hp recovery software. does anyone have any idea about that. where to do free download of that software.

I know there have been a lot of these asked but I have a little twist. I have the sandsik cruzer and I was trying to delete the U3 Launch program. It started and then it wanted to transfer my files and format the drive. So I clicked cancel because I wanted to back up all my files first. When I did that, most of my files were gone. The most important ones for college are gone too. Is there any way I can get these back? I have tried a couple different recovery programs and they havnt found anything and I also have to pay to save anything they find anyway. Thanks for any help.

My Wii was hit by a power surge while it was plugged in to an off-brand power adapter without a fuse. The power surge appears to have knocked out the Wii. It is not the power adapter because I tried getting a new OEM one and the unit will still not power on.

I am planning on simply buying a new Wii but I need to know how I can (a) get the disc out that is currently in the wii and (b) retrieve my game save data.

I am one of the many who had the bitter experience with the windows 7 (64bit 7600 build). I was very happy with the older RHEL. My son tried the third rated Gates OS in my personal system and screwed all the data. Is there any way to recover them?
