Dropped my harddisk that i had taken out of my cpu. I put it back in but it can’t be recognised by the machine. I can feel it spinning, does that for a while, then it stops suddenly. If i boot on a different machine with it as a slave.. i still can’t access it in “My Computer”. There is no physical damage to it.
Really need to recover data off of it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Send it off to a data recovery place and hope for the best. BTW, data recovery is not cheap.

Well as aside from sending it out to a data recovery place you can’t. You damaged the heads when you dropped it. If you’re feeling adventurous you could by another drive the same make, model and size try to transfer the platters to the new on but the new one will also be trashed as it won’t last long.

Any damage will surely be internal.
If you damaged the motor or caused the spindle to become off-balanced (most likely), then you’ll have a heck of a time retrieving all of your information. If it’s important data, you can take it to a data recovery service, where they will charge you a few hundred dollars for recovery.
I’ve heard that sealing your drive in a ziplock bag, to prevent condensation, and putting it in the freezer for a couple days, then immediately installing the drive and booting up will give you up to a half hour of runtime to backup your files. This is because the cold may cause some of the metal parts of the hard drive to contract, putting parts that were out of whack back in place. I cannot confirm this method myself, but I believe it is possible.
Your hard drive cannot be salvaged and even so would not operate for long in damaged condition.

Please do not open the hard drive nd emove the platters as, unless u r very teh savvy and have all the knwledge about it as if you re not succesfull in changing the platters, it will destroy all ur data and both the hard drives, so please take the hard drive to data recovery companies like drive savers,, however it will cost u a lost. But we do not have a second choice.

Well if you can access it on a different machine, why not use it just to get your data, format the requisite and restore it again to its original.

Shelve it untill the prices for recovery come down and slap in another hdd in the mean time

ya may be ur harddisk is not phisically damaged but is is damaged internally
u cant see it
so u should change it
there is no another way
and for the next time be careful
